This shell script restores the beautiful black monitor icons we were so accustomed to before NEXTSTEP release 3.3. I don't understand why NeXT didn't use the fat binary capability to make distinct icons for black or white hardware, although I'd prefer the black icons even on white hardware.
Please let me know if you like it, my email address can be found at the end.
USAGE:
This script must be run as root.
It will replace all white icons which have been changed in NS3.3 with the nice old
black ones we were used to before all that ugly PC/HP/Sun hardware on the market
today was able to support NeXTstep.
SECURITY:
The protection of Terminal, PrintManager and HostManager is the default
protection you get when you install NEXTSTEP from scratch.. You might have to change
this script to accomodate security restrictions at your site.
WARNING!
If you don't trust this script please read it carefully, I will and can not guarantee
that it works flawlessly so keep a backup copy of your installation CD-ROM at hand!
So this comes with no guarantee whatsoever! It has been tried on two different sites,
one by installed by me and one by someone else (thanks Jon!) and we experienced no problems.
A backup copy of the executables which have been changed (WM, PrintManager, Terminal, HostManager) can be found in TMPDIR.
